Paul Mescal is speaking out about the speculation about his personal life.
One aspect of his personal life that drew the attention of the public was when he began dating Phoebe Bridgers in 2021. There were even rumors that they had gotten engaged. A year later, Phoebe was spotted with Bo Burnham, sparking rumors that she and Paul had broken up.
Now, Paul is speaking out about why the speculation and talk is hurtful.

“If I’m going to make TV shows like Normal People, there’s going to be an appetite from the world. Eighty percent of that is palatable. And then 20 percent of it is devastating,” he shared with Harper’s Bazaar.
“The stuff that hurts is the personal stuff. It’s nobody else’s business and should never be commented on because it’s indecent. And it’s unkind,” he added. “Honest answer, it makes me angry…It’s the entitlement to the information that people expect that just drives me f-cking mad.”
Paul has also spoken about some inappropriate and unacceptable fan encounters he’s had.
