Just as summer officially comes to a close, Pen Pin releases a dreamy sun-soaked single all about those boredom blues. Entitled “The Boredom”, their velvety vocals wash atop gentle, glistening guitars for a laid-back beachy quality. The chill track details the danger of de-stimulation. Jeni of the duo confides, “I hope it serves as a reminder not to be too hard on ourselves when we find ourselves scrolling through our phones yet again, without knowing how we got there. The boredom isn’t necessarily evil, but it’s a character that you might not always want around but seems to show up when you least expect it anyway.”
The visuals fit the song’s tropical, surfer style seamlessly. Who has not experienced a relaxing day and out of nowhere a random robot appears. It’s eccentric scenes like this that make the video so special and uniquely Pen Pin.
The project is composed of Jeni Magana and Emily Moore. Together they craft glowing indie pop pieces bursting with Palm Desert vibes. The two met while touring with Mitski and not long after began writing and recording their debut album. Now Pen Pin has blossomed into a polished pair with ultimate ethereal warmth.
