The pair of new categories are titled Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures and Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television.

The award based on a film’s box-office success will include nominees from the year’s highest-grossing and/or most viewed movies, as well as those with an “extensive global audience” or that have “produced exceptional creative content,” per a press release, The Wrap reports.

For the first time, the Golden Globes will recognize an individual comedian in addition to handing out awards for stand-up specials.

Qualifications for the category consisting of six nominees, which only includes specials that first premiered in the U.S., state that comedy performances must be at least 30 minutes long and cannot be defined as TV series, limited series, anthology series, or films made for TV.

New recognition for box-office successes and comedic talents in the industry is a welcomed addition to the Golden Globes!
