Nicollette Sullivan Shines with Her Reflective Cover of Don McLean’s “Vincent”

Nicollette Sullivan grew up surrounded by a multitude of influences. Her parents are singers from different backgrounds, exposing Sullivan to their diverse passions rooted in movements varying from hard rock to classical. She remembers naturally gravitating toward Don McLean’s “Vincent” as a kid, despite not understanding the lyrics. Now that she has developed her identity as an artist herself, Nicollette Sullivan emerges with a soul-striking cover of “Vincent” and a hauntingly vivid music video to pair.

Nicollette Sullivan’s “Vincent” is a prismatic wonderland full of lush strings, clarified notes of piano, and entangled harmonies that bring her rendition to life. The music video is a subliminal journey through the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh as Sullivan muses on his work and interacts with a seemingly live self portrait of him. She serenades, “Starry, starry night / Flaming flowers that brightly blaze / Swirling clouds in violet haze / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of China blue.” Nicollette Sullivan’s “Vincent” is a teary-eyed, ruminative plunge through the souls of two artists intertwined.

Gearing up for her sophomore album, Nicollette Sullivan is returning to her early influences as a musician as seen on “Vincent”. She got her start as a vocalist in high school theater and choir which has informed her identity today.
