When the news broke late last week that Stormzy and RAYE were once again teaming up to release a brand new duet, the internet was ablaze with anticipation and excitement!
As two of todays most prolific and important musical talents, both currently enjoying monumental success following the unveiling of their latest creative endeavours, such a frenzied reaction was to be expected. And upon hearing the duo’s new single ‘The Weekend’ for the first time, we’re happy to report the track well and truly lives up to the hype!
Produced by British producer London (Rema, Tiwa Savage), the supremely smooth, 00’s inspired R&B slow jam sees the two stars detail their desires to meet with a love interest. Reminiscent in style to classic turn of the millennium collaborations between Ja Rule, Ashanti and JLO, the flirty and romantic track plays up to the two stars undeniable chemistry, as they trade back and fourth in a conversational manner throughout.
Directed by esteemed film maker Omar Jones, the singles accompanying music video was shot across a number of different locations throughout the UK, with playful scenes between the pair taking place in a club, a chicken shop, the studio and a bedroom… as well as a coy encounter in the middle of the street!
